Unsettling Trance Rituals for Liberation
Next cohort: 20 February – 20 March 2026
Overview
Rising fascism seeks to colonise our sense of reality and what is possible. Unsettling witchcrafts is a technology to undo this colonisation by remembering the real reality of love. Join us in collective trancework over 5 weeks to weaken the fear, hate, and limitedness that fascism sows in our lives while deconstructing the relationship between fascism, liberalism, and colonialism in the process. Find pathways transversal to the realities of settler* cultures.
Meetings will take place live online on Fridays from 1600h-1800h GMT through BigBlueButton (BBB), an opensource learning platform hosted by the artist collective, Constant (BBB is like Zoom, but without the neoliberal fascist investments). You will be also asked to optionally undertake a reflective activity or listen to a recording every week outside of these meetings. While undertaking these activities remains optional, it is highly encouraged to get the most out of the programme.
Meetings each week shall be structured like this:
1600h-1700h GMT: Welcome, Teaching, Sharing & Discussion
1700h-1730h GMT: Comfort Break & Doodle Rooms (Quieter Time)
1730h-1800h GMT: Guided Trance, followed by optional short sharing and journaling prompts

* Throughout this website, ‘settler‘ refers to cultures that objectify land(s), which includes air, water, soil, minerals, plants, fungi, animals etc., by denying its multi-agential sentient intelligence and treating it as resource or property. Settler cultures also see humans are separate from the land, resulting in an orientation whereby it is possible for humans to ‘settle’ or ‘settle on’ the land; instead of being a part of it. This separation is needed because settler cultures treat land(s) as an object to accumulate, conquer, exploit, civilise, and establish empires. As a result of this , the objectification and colonisation of their/our bodies, minds, and spirits is incessant and inevitable.
Even as some modern Western settler cultures deny the reality of magic, settler cultures as a whole promote and deploy magic as control; magic as control is settler magic. Settler languages also lack vocabularies to express concepts or worldviews outside of settler cultures, making settler realities appear natural, normal or unproblematic due to the prevalence of settler laws and languages. Simultaneously, settler societies harbour great sickness and isolation, injustice and exploitation, but all this is treated as unrelated to their primary relationship of objectification of the land.
These patterns of settler cultures are noted all over the planet today, not limited to Australia and the Americas; and include Europe and Asia, exhibiting acute consolidation within Western Europe, where settler cultures are rampant.
